- Technical College completed, prepar-ations for opening in progress.
In April, after years of intensive work, LDA completed the Technical College in Barnesville, about 60min drive from the country’s capital Monrovia. With financial support from Sida LDA-Liberia constructed three technical workshops, an admin-istrative building and a fence around the whole campus area in the period between October 2009 and April 2010. The Technical College will provide professional technical education to Liberia’s youth in areas such as carpentry and car mechanics. Currently, preparations for opening are underway. - LDA reconstructing two schools with goal to provide space for 1000 children.
70kilometers from Liberia’s capital, the children of Bowein are curiously watching the reconstruction of their school. The old school building with three class rooms is too small to provide space for about 600 school-aged children. With funding from Sida, LDA has started to build 6 new classrooms and renovate the existing rooms. The goal is to establish a robust school providing space for more than 400 students. In parallel, LDA is also busy working in Margibi County in the town of Wenneh. After the works, it is expected that enrolment will increase to 600 students. (LDA Update, August 2010)
